Now that we have read the book, we are going to learn more about different types of vision disorders other than blindness.
Go to the link: http://ohiolionseyeresearch.com/simulati.htm
The simulation will show an image and then the same image with the name of the vision disorder.
Once you are done answering the questions above, grab a few braille cards. On the last page of The Black Book of Colors there is a braille alphabet. This is just one of the many ways people who are blind can read. Some other possibilities may include listening to audio, using a braille note-taker (an object that allows students to read notes as it changes lines with a push of a button), and other possibilities. Close your eyes and try to differentiate the different symbols. Practice “reading” the braille.

- Which vision disorder stood out to you?
- How were the images with the disorder different from the original image?
- Do you know anyone that has any of these disorders?

- Was it hard to tell the difference between the symbols?
- How did the texture of the braille feel?
- Do you think it is harder for people to learn to read letters or braille?
- How fast do you think people who are blind can read braille?
